you've gotta be kidding

Cate and I haven’t even been healthy for a month yet, and we’re both sick again. For me: my throat is killing me, I’m all congested, and just basically feel like crap.

As for Cate, the poor kiddo is just miserable. She had a little bit of a fever earlier this evening (100.0), her nose is pouring, and she’s just been totally not herself. She cried during her entire bath – normally one of her favorite activities – because it required me to detach her from my neck for two minutes. I’ve given her both baby Tylenol and Motrin, I’ve used the snot-sucker and the baby saline nose drops, and nothing seems to help.

This afternoon while we were playing (or more accurately, I was trying to get her to play rather than scream), she sat on the floor, leaned forward and lay her head on my leg. She didn’t fall asleep, but she didn’t budge from that position or make a sound for about ten minutes. That is just not like her at all, I’ve never seen her do something like that. So I think we’ll be calling the pediatrician first thing in the morning.

It’s almost midnight now, and Dave and I just got her to sleep. I have a feeling that she’s going to end up in our bed long before this night is over. Fingers crossed that it won’t be as awful as I’m expecting.

  1. Yuck. It is no fun to be sick when you have holiday stuff to get done. Emily’s had a little cold but thanks to her ear tubes, no accompanying ear infection! Get better, girls!
