This weekend, Dave taught Catie how to develop game apps for the iPhone.
She’s totally into it, and taking it very seriously.
She’ll probably design the greatest app since “Words With Friends.”
Oh, and I got an iPhone 4! Which shoots video! Related: we sang happy birthday to my sister, and filmed it since Tracy is currently celebrating her birthday with friends in Italy.

We also watched a heck of a lot of Xanadu. (And I learned that if you turn the phone to a landscape setting, it automatically adjusts when you copy it over to your laptop. Nice job, Apple! I won’t make any more oddly narrow videos.)

(I’m still trying to get a video of her really singing it. So far, she kind of goes quiet as soon as she sees the camera. You can still see her lip-syncing it, but hopefully I’ll get a real video of it soon.)
(Also? This is how she always watches Xanadu – with lots and lots and lots of random questions about the plot.)
Sunday afternoon, we went to see the Wiggles in concert.
At first, Catie wasn’t too sure what she thought about the whole concert thing. But she took the popcorn very seriously.
Honestly? That might’ve been one of the most fun kids’ concerts we’ve been to (and I’ve been to a lot of them). You can tell that these guys have been doing this stuff for 20 years, and they just have fun with it and throw in all kinds of improv lines here and there, which makes it really funny for the adults in the audience.
That said, I’m glad I didn’t take advantage of the chance I had to get closer seats, because Catie got a little claustrophobic from the crowd, so we spent a lot of the show toward the back where it was emptier. She usually reacts that way in crowds, same as Dave, so I wasn’t too surprised by it.
I did manage to get one decent picture of all three of us, although the weird iPhone flash thing makes it look like we’ve been dousing ourselves in self-tanner.
Also? Sweaty. It was HOT in there. I don’t know how those guys on stage do it.
Overall, though? A pretty great time was had by all. But I can’t quite believe it’s Monday already.
Can’t see the videos at work, they block YouTube, because they hate me! Glad ya’ll had a great time at The Wiggles…hope ya’ll did a little dance for me. Because…Fruit Salad is Yummy Yummy!

@Hockeymandad, Hey, I actually sort of like the Wiggles. I mean, as far as children’s entertainment goes, I find them far less annoying than a lot of what’s out there. And some of their songs are pretty catchy.
Dave has a plan for an iPhone game app that he wants to create in his free time. I’m encouraging it only because there’s a possibility that it’ll make us a (probably tiny) amount of money at some point.
Glad you didn’t get sent to jail for jumping that one wiggle (don’t have kids so I don’t watch them, not sure the name of the one you mentioned on twitter.) but I’m glad Catie had a good time!
And when you get the video of her really jamming to Xanadu you have GOT to find a way to send that video to Olivia Newton-John. No lie. I can’t guarantee she’d get a kick out of it. In fact I will search a way for you to send that to her.

@Jess, Anthony, the blue Wiggle (who looks totally goofy in that poster picture above), is kinda oddly hot. I don’t really know what it is, but there’s a certain charisma there…
That would be kind of funny to send the video to ONJ, but I’m guessing she probably gets that kind of thing a lot. (Although probably more with Grease than Xanadu.)
We saw the Wiggles in concert 4 yrs ago. Do kids still bring roses for Dorothy & bones for Wags the Dog? That was funny. And kind of creepy.

@drlori71, Yes! People do still bring roses & bones, and the Wiggles themselves come out into the audience to collect them (while Dorothy did her little song and dance number onstage to keep the show moving along). I don’t get that, though. Why would you bring something to the show just to give it away to a fictional character? Is it just so you can get up & close and personal with the Wiggles themselves? I’m guessing yes, in which case you’re right: a little creepy.
One of the many things I love about you, babe ,is that you support me through some of my crazy ideas.
I’ll probably bring in about 100 bucks for us (over a period 3 months). Wooot, book that holiday villa! :))

We’ve seen the Wiggles twice and you are right that they are a good show. Even the adults by us had fun.

@Shari, I agree. We’ve seen Sesame Street Live and the Nick Junior live show, and the Wiggles were far & away miles better. Mainly because they’re, you know, ACTUALLY musicians, which is pretty cool.
