awesome weekend

Ok, Friday morning started off bad. Remember how I overslept earlier this week? Well, I woke up on Friday morning when my cell phone rang. It was my boss, calling to see where I was. It was 8:40. That does it, I’m buying a back-up alarm clock. Anyway, got to work (by 10 a.m., not bad for a high maintenance gal such as myself) and had a lot of stuff to do with this whole internet worm business. Finally bailed a little after 5. I usually leave at 4, so I guess that was my penance for being 2 hours late.

Now, on Friday night, the original plan was that I was going to see a play with Krissy, because her friend is in it and she promised she’d go see it. I was not entirely keen on this idea, because I don’t know her friend and didn’t know what the play was about. Krissy’s exact description was, “the title is either something-boudoir or something-armoire… I don’t know, there’s some French word in it.” Hmmm… could be racy & sexy, could be about furniture. Who knows? Fabulous. But, Scott very bravely offered to come with, which made me feel a little less sketchy on the whole thing. Even though several friends/family suggested that the 3rd date might be a tad early to subject him to Krissy, since she can be a bit…. mmm, opinionated at times. But hey, I was glad to have the company, so I took him up on it.

Friday evening rolls around, and Krissy calls. She’s been working 14 hour shifts and she was going to have to be back at work at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, and all she wanted to do was sleep. She really did sound exhausted, so I told her to go home & get some rest, and Scott & I would just find some other way to amuse ourselves. As it happens, that was probably the best possible outcome. We went to dinner at Axis (they have fried pickles…. yummy…), had some drinks at a couple of different bars, heard a really awesome Irish folk band, and sat on Scott’s roof deck for a while (awesome views). After I had consumed a little liquid courage, I bullied the first kiss out of Scott (the anticipation thing makes me nervous, I don’t deal well with it), but he didn’t seem to mind too much.

Saturday – today – Scott & I went to the zoo (yes, we double-booked our weekend). That was a lot of fun. The tiger cubs were adorable, although they aren’t exactly cubs at this point. They’re 9 months old, so they’re pretty big. Also saw the baby elephant (I think he’s 2 or 3), and tons of other cute furry things. I took a whole bunch of pictures, I’ll try to get them online soon.

After the zoo, Scott surprised me by cooking me fried catfish. We had talked once about my southern heritage & the fact that you can’t get catfish in the northwest because people laugh at you and say things like “no, we have real fish here.” What can I say, I love my bottom feeders. Anyway, the catfish was really good, and since he didn’t have the exact ingredients for hush puppies, he made little corn bread muffins instead, which kicked ass. We also watched “Chicago”, which neither of us had seen yet. Pretty fun movie. I felt really bad for John C. Reilly, though – he seems to be making a career out of playing the dumb husband whose wife cheats on him (both this & “The Good Girl”). I dig him as an actor, I hope that’s not how he’s going to be typecast.

So there it is. I’ve had a really great time. I know this is the first time I’ve mentioned Scott here, and I’m a little nervous about doing so because I don’t want to jinx anything. But he’s talking about me on his blog, so I figured what the heck. Besides, most everyone who reads this already knows I’ve been seeing him. And he already knows I dig him. So I figure it’s no biggie.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend too.
